“The Margaret River Pro is an action packed free event where top ranked male & female surfers compete along the stunning coastline of the infamous Margaret River Region
The event forms part of the World Surf League (WSL) World Championship Tour (WCT). It is one of eleven WCT events, which occur at iconic surf destinations around the world.
The Margaret River Pro will be held at spectacular Surfers Point. It is one of only two Australian events on WSL’s prestigious World Championship Tour schedule and will be the crucial mid-season decider, where the field will drop for the final events in the tour."
Why we love the Margaret River Pro:
It's FREE. Compared to the Bells Beach Pro in Victoria where you have to pay to see it.
Beautiful Spot - the event takes place at Surfers Point, with lots of space to sit and watch the live action and on the big screen with commentary. You can find a spot on the lawn so pack a picnic blanket or a lightweight camping chair.
Free shuttle bus services on the weekends. During the week you can park your car in Prevelly at Riflebutts Reserve.
The excitement - every morning the Commissioner decides if the comp is ‘on’, ‘off’ or ‘on-hold’, considering the weather conditions. They update the call on Instagram @wsl, so make sure you follow along and as soon as the call is made you can plan your day.
On site at Surfers Point there are many food trucks offering coffee, acai, sandwiches, burgers etc. so you won’t get hungry.
Spot world famous up close - you’ll be able to get up close and watch the surfers run by the crowd on their way to and from the surf, you can even get a photo or a signature if you’re lucky!
